I was sad to hear about the passing of Bettie Saunders. As some of you remember, I got to work with her some years ago when she was the administrator of what was then called the College of the State Bar of Texas. I was the executive director back then. Bettie was definitely a hard worker with what I might describe as “old-school” high standards. She always played meticulous attention to detail and, judging from the voluminous files she kept, I believe saved every single document that even remotely mentioned the College during her tenure. Bettie was very easy to get along with and developed many friends among members of the College and particularly the College board. I especially appreciated her droll sense of humor, which she had many occasions to use in our work. I was glad when she retired that she had a vast family to keep her company, five children I believe, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A real lady who left a legacy of excellence and goodwill that the College benefits from today: we will all miss Bettie. ♦
