Q. What is my reporting year for the College?
A. January 1 through December 31 for all members.
Q. I need a little extra time in obtaining the required amount of MCLE credit for purposes of renewing my SBC membership. How do I go about getting some extra time to complete the needed MCLE?
A. Complete and submit this form , as per the directions on the form.
Q. I reported my hours to MCLE. Do I need to report my hours separately to the College?
A. No. The College database is merged with MCLE so it is not necessary to report separately.
Q. My maintaining member report does not "match" my MCLE report. Why?
A. The MCLE compliance year is by the attorney's birth month. Also, no College credit is given for self-study claimed in the "other" category.
Q. What is the maximum allowable carry forward hours for the College?
A. Fifteen (15) hours.
Q. I do not want a new certificate. I only want a sticker for my current certificate. Do I need to pay the $60 fee?
A. Yes, the $60 fee is an annual membership fee and payment is required to maintain membership.
Q. How many hours of self-study can I use each year to maintain membership?
A. Five (5).
Q. How do I report self-study?
A. Complete a "State Bar of Texas CLE Credit Input Form" with your Bar card number in section (1) and the number of self-study hours you are claiming in section (3). You may add the hours online at www.texasbar.com using the new "Online Tools" feature.
Q. How do I correct the hours of attendance at a CLE activity?
A. Complete sections 1 and 6 on the credit input form, sign the form and return it. You may correct the hours online at www.texasbar.com using the new "Online Tools" feature.
Q. I attended an accredited CLE activity that is not listed on the report. What do I need to do?
A. Complete the enclosed credit input form by adding your Bar card number is section one and the course number of the CLE activity in section four. Sign the form and return it. You may add the course online at www.texasbar.com using the new "Online Tools" feature. Call the sponsor of the CLE activity to get the course number if you do not have it.
Q. I attended a CLE activity that has not yet been submitted to the Bar for accreditation. How can I get credit for attending this activity?
A. Call the College office and request a CLE application form.
Q. Do I return the credit input form to the MCLE Department or the College.
A. Either.
